Your love is enough.

On energy, presence, and acknowledging the impact you have on the world around you just being who you are.

Your love is enough.

For those of you who might doubt whether what you do (paid or not) is impactful, or if you feel that your natural gifts and talents aren’t valued by society, or if the healing work you have done makes a difference in the world, this is for you.

Honestly, her statement confused me.

The energy healer Adrienne Cobb said to me, “Can you feel it? Your love is enough.”

As a person of action, who prides myself on my doing, I struggled to comprehend what she was saying beneath the very simple words, “Your love is enough.” She was saying to me that showing up as myself is enough - it changes people.

The work that she and I did around the idea that presence and the way that we naturally move through the world matters deeply gave rise to a profound shift in how I think of myself and my work in the world.

Naming a thing is potent, isn’t it?

I may never have come to a sense of knowing that simply resting in my own essence and being who I am is valuable and potentially life-changing for the people around me. But once she named it, I could see it. Not just see it, but I was able to to acknowledge it and own it.

The value in owning the power of your presence.

Let’s be honest - culturally, we are conditioned to think of impact in terms of money - the more money you make, the more impact you have. So owning the impact of your energy, your love, and your presence is truly revolutionary!

Though I still find it surprising (but delightful), I've had strangers who meet me comment on my energy and my presence. I have had clients hire me just because they want to be in the field of my love and care and attention.

However, no one ever commented on my presence until I began to acknowledge and appreciate the way that I show up and how people respond. Knowing and appreciating your own energy and presence makes other people aware of the gift you simply are.

Listen I’m still a do-er.

As much as I’m still oriented toward action, I firmly believe that one of my most powerful contributions in my marriage, as a parent, with my clients, in the groups I run, in my community, and in my friendships is the authentic, loving presence that is simply me. And I believe with my whole heart that this is true of you, too.

Your presence is a profound gift.

Yes, your presence is actually a profound gift that changes people and relationships and hearts and minds. Whether it's part of your paid work or whether it is just who you are, how we show up in the world matters.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept.

Remember, there is power in your own acknowledgement. Reflect on a way of being (your presence, energy, etc) that you know impacts others in beautiful ways, but that you (and possibly others) haven’t acknowledged. Name it and claim it by sharing in the comments.

This is so delicious!!! And eloquently written. Yes! I also love that you both name and embrace the magic of being-ness, and still honor and own the doing-ness. That it's not either/or.

Your phrase -- simply resting in my own essence and being who I am -- I will carry that with me. The idea that being present is not necessarily effortful, that I can rest in my essence, breathe it in and out, and be.

And I accept the challenge to become more conscious and aware of how my presence impacts others.

I so agree. Just reading your emails and feeling your presence through them and how you show up with love and message has changed my life. Thank you deeply
