Rest is a Portal
Through deep rest, the body softens, the nervous system heals—and the soul opens to what’s waiting beyond.
I love contemplative practices of stillness.
Meditation, breathwork, active imagination, yoga nidra—these long-term companions have made me the woman I am, and continue to shape the woman I am becoming.
Of all of them, yoga nidra carries a special kind of magic. Sometimes called “soulful sleep,” it guides us layer by layer into deep relaxation, balancing the nervous system and creating a state of receptivity.
It’s what becomes possible after that softening that always takes my breath away.
Because rest is more than restoration. Rest is a portal. When the layers of consciousness soften, we open to divine clarity, surprising insights, and the kind of imagination that can reshape our lives.
This is why I love to pair yoga nidra with active imagination: the practice of conversing with our wisest selves, unseen allies and guides, or opening to a vision of something new. In that dreamlike state, possibilities for ourselves—and even for the world—can begin to take form.
Deep rest + the power of imagination? Hell yes!
When I practice yoga nidra, I feel profoundly held by the earth and the divine. Often it feels as if my borders dissolve and I become both expansion and contraction, pulsing with the breath of the universe. There is such tenderness in lying down and letting go—trusting the earth, trusting the process. In that surrender, I find myself woven into something ancient, connected backward in time and forward into the future.
It’s here, in this quiet space, that I reconnect with deep wisdom. I remember who I am and who I am becoming. I glimpse the next path, the next right action.
Contemplative, intentional rest isn’t indulgence—it’s a powerful way to say yes to yourself and the future you wish to create.
✨ This is the practice we enter together inside Soul Nourished. A month-long cocoon of rest, visioning, and daily energy medicine, held in community.
If your body is whispering yes, the fire is lit, and the blankets are already fluffed.
