Remember who you are
An ode to the remembering, the forgetting, and the remembering... again and again as you reveal your radiance to yourself and the world.
Were you ever asked, “Who do you think you are?”
I heard this question a lot as a child, and it was not said with love and curiosity but with lots of judgment and what felt like a desire to put me in my place. Many of my contemporaries heard this same statement throughout childhood or some variation.
We hide our authentic radiance for good reason.
That is important to note — choosing to obscure the Truth when you are young is deep wisdom in many cases. Now, as an adult, it may often feel like less than a choice but a fundamental way of being that is self-destructive in so.many.ways.
As adults, we can choose the truth of our innate, unshakable wholeness. To peel away the layers of untruth that kept our tenderest, and most vulnerable truths, safe and sound.
Be the safe, revelatory ground for yourSelf.
Before we can share ourselves confidently with others, we have to be the safe revelatory ground for ourselves. We have to fiercely be on our own side by welcoming the parts of us that are unsavory or afraid or over-protective. We have to be willing to gently notice when, and how, we diminish, dismiss, devalue and doubt ourselves and rewire ourselves for the Truth.
Remembering is an evolution.
The Truth is that your Essence is radiant, creative, joy, love, truth, and compassion — getting to the place where you feel that consistently is a fluid, ongoing process. Some days I feel the deep Truth of this, and some days, I don’t feel it at all. Remember, we are all in a dynamic, evolutionary process as individuals and as a collective in reclaiming our wholeness.
So get quiet and tune into your Truth.
Who do you know you are? Whether you have recently been in a state of forgetting, or you have been rocking your own genius you are invited to take a beat and remember exactly who you are - radiant, imperfect, and brilliant.
